Big Yank was launched as a workwear maker by Reliance (Reliance Manufacturing) based in Chicago, Illinois in 1919. Big Yank created a lot of innovative details from pockets to cuffs to yokes, and famous brands also imitated the details, developing products with high design while being a traditional work wear manufacturer.
Painstakingly made by 35 Summers in Japan, the Big Yank 1952 Chambray Shirt is a fitting tribute to the legendary workwear brand. The 1952 Chambray shirt features detailing found in early 50's Big Yank shirts where the shift in pocket size and cuffs were most noticeable.
Cut from 100% cotton in Japan, the 1952 Chambray features the change in cigarette pocket shape that was updated with the introduction of filter cigarettes in the US. As production & manufacturing started to shift Big Yank/Reliance Clothing modified the cuff design making it simpler, as well as modifying the buttons. Contrasting white stitching is used throughout while there are two chest pockets with button flap closure, while the left features pen slot and cigarette pocket. Selvedge side gussets & woven Big Yank label complete the look.
